As you know, the fifth annual
Bowling for Books tournament is being held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Cal
Bowl in Lakewood from 1-6pm. All proceeds raised from the event are put towards

The Shops’ Hot Seat
Each issue we’ll feature one of
our employees, from the newest student employees to the senior staff members in
any of our units and offices!
This Week: Katelyn Reid: Dining Services Associate, Parkside Dining Hall
Beach Bytes: How long have you
been with the Shops?
Katelyn Reid: This is my third year with 49er Shops.
BB: What does your first name
mean?
KR: My name is Katelyn and in Gaelic it means
"pure." However, I go by Katie or Kate and I've done so all my life.
BB: What is the last thing you
bought from the Shops?
KR: The last thing I bought was a cup of hot tea at
the Beach Hut in between two of my classes.
BB: What is your major? or What
is/was your favorite school subject?
KR: I'm an English Education Major.
BB: What is your favorite type
of music? Your favorite song?
KR: I like all kinds of music, but right now I am
primarily obsessed with Thrift Shop by Mackelmore.
BB: What three words describe
you best?
KR: Nerdy, thoughtful, and introverted are probably
the three words that describe me best.
BB: What are your favorite
hobbies?
KR: My favorite hobbies are reading and kayaking.
BB: Are you a cat lover or a
dog lover? Do you have any pets?
KR: I am a huge dog lover, but the only pet I
currently own is a stuffed bulldog that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas. His
name is Winston.
BB: What’s the best piece of
advice someone has ever given you?
KR: A saying that I live by as a future educator is a
quote from Albert Einstein that says, "If you judge a fish on his ability
to climb trees, then he will forever think he is stupid."
Have an announcement for the
Shops family, and/or want to be featured in a future issue? Please email FNS-Communications@csulb.edu with “Beach Bytes” in the subject line!
